Greetings in the Name of the Lord!
Preparations are under way for the 5th Tokai Missions
Conference to be held Sept. 22-24, 2008. The central theme
of this year’s conference is “The
Content of the Gospel”. In modern society, complication
and confusion hide behind an illusion
of prosperity. Depression and various character disorders
are on the rise. In our digitalized age
of information technology, life as we once knew it has degenerated.
Many people feel no reason
for living, the family and other human relationships have
dissolved.
Nationwide, education, medical and welfare services suffer severe cutbacks.
“Soul, Body and
Life” are in crisis. “Spiritual wholeness” is needed now
more than ever—here is where “the
image of God” comes into view (Genesis 1:27). The Bible teaches man and God in communion,
with rich and purpose-filled life in the Holy Spirit. In
Christ, there is restoration in the image of
God for those who were once separated from God.
At this conference, we are honored to have as our lecturers Dr. Barrs and
Dr. Kashiwagi. For
special music, our guest will be Hideo Kobori, a semi-classic pianist. We hope these three days
will be a time of celebrating the gospel of Christ and deepening
spiritual awareness. The
location is easily accessible from Kanayama station; only
10 minutes on the subway.
This conference is open to believers of all
ages. We warmly welcome you.
About Jerram Barrs Yuzo
Kurokawa Pastor, Chita Zion Christ Church
The 5th Tokai Missions Conference
is honored to welcome as one of its speakers Professor Jerram Barrs of Covenant
Seminary’s
Francis Schaeffer Institute. Dr. Barrs, a disciple and assistant of Schaeffer,
worked 18 years at the Institute in England before
moving on to Covenant Seminary in 1989. Dr. Barrs’ work
centers on secularism, post-modernism, New Age theology, and
biochemistry. A friend who studies under him says: “Dr.
Barrs’ words and deeds are his witness. His message is easily understood,
and he never forgets to give a challenge. He sympathizes
with the unbeliever. …He loves nature, music, art, and all of God’s
creation. His hobbies are bird watching and gardening;
orchids are his specialty. Professor Barrs is most fitting to lecture to us about
“Restoration in the Image of God.”
